Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, preserved frozen potato exports contracted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 345%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Belgium (X tons), Australia (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) were the main destinations of preserved frozen potato exports from Vietnam, together comprising 75% of total exports. Nigeria, France and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 21%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Nigeria (with a CAGR of +89.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for preserved frozen potato exported from Vietnam were Belgium ($X), Australia ($X) and France ($X), together comprising 66% of total exports. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, preserved frozen potato imports expanded significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 96%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest preserved frozen potato supplier to Vietnam, accounting for a 42% share of total imports.
