In 2021, approx. X kg of iodine, fluorine and bromine were exported from Vietnam; with an increase of 136% against the previous year. In general, exports recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 305% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, iodine, fluorine and bromine exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a significant expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Lao People's Democratic Republic (X kg) was the main destination for iodine, fluorine and bromine exports from Vietnam, with a 76% share of total exports. Moreover, iodine, fluorine and bromine exports to Lao People's Democratic Republic exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the UK (X kg), threefold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Lao People's Democratic Republic stood at +29.3%.

In value terms, Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X) remains the key foreign market for iodine, fluorine and bromine exports from Vietnam, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the UK ($X), with a 23% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Lao People's Democratic Republic stood at +25.9%.

The average iodine, fluorine and bromine export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 56% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 138%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK totaled $X per ton.

After two years of growth, overseas purchases of iodine, fluorine and bromine decreased by -3.1% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 140%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then contracted modestly in the following year.

In value terms, iodine, fluorine and bromine imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 155% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

India (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Japan (X tons) were the main suppliers of iodine, fluorine and bromine imports to Vietnam, with a combined 78% share of total imports. Chile, Hong Kong SAR, Germany, Canada and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Hong Kong SAR (with a CAGR of +545.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Japan ($X) and Chile ($X) appeared to be the largest iodine, fluorine and bromine suppliers to Vietnam, with a combined 85% share of total imports. India, Hong Kong SAR, Canada, Germany and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Hong Kong SAR, with a CAGR of +328.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average iodine, fluorine and bromine import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 30% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, iodine, fluorine and bromine import price increased by +79.9% against 2017 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the price for Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+54.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
