The United Arab Emirates (X tons) was the main destination for lemon and lime exports from Vietnam, with a 48% share of total exports. Moreover, lemon and lime exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Oman (X tons), with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United Arab Emirates amounted to +39.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+70.1% per year) and Oman (+37.7% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for lemon and lime exported from Vietnam were the United Arab Emirates ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Oman ($X), together accounting for 75% of total exports.

In terms of the main countries of destination, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +74.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, imports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 100% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then dropped notably in the following year.

In value terms, lemon and lime imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate moderate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 119% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of lemon and lime to Vietnam, accounting for a 83% share of total imports. Moreover, lemon and lime imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), fivefold.
