In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of manganites, manganates and permanganates, molybdates and tungstates, when their volume increased by 18% to X tons. In general, exports showed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 389% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 314%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main destinations of manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates exports from Vietnam, together accounting for 58% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +75.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates exported from Vietnam were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the United States ($X), with a combined 62% share of total exports.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, overseas purchases of manganites, manganates and permanganates, molybdates and tungstates were finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 394%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 212% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) was the main supplier of manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates to Vietnam, with a 94% share of total imports. Moreover, manganites, manganates, molybdates and tungstates imports from Lao People's Democratic Republic exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Lao People's Democratic Republic amounted to -4.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-11.3% per year) and India (-18.5% per year).

In value terms, Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X) constituted the largest supplier of manganites, manganates and permanganates, molybdates and tungstates to Vietnam, comprising 78% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 15% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Lao People's Democratic Republic was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-7.8% per year) and India (+0.9% per year).

In 2021, the average import price for manganites, manganates and permanganates, molybdates and tungstates amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -9.4% against the previous year.
