Over the period under review, milled rice imports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, milled rice imports reached their peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2018, imports failed to regain their momentum.

In value terms, milled rice imports amounted to $X in 2018. Overall, milled rice imports, however, continue to indicate outstanding growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2009 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, milled rice imports attained their maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2018, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2018, Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) constituted the largest milled rice supplier to Vietnam, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, milled rice imports from Lao People's Democratic Republic exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), sixfold. Thailand (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
