In 2022, the Vietnamese aircraft propeller market increased by 114% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, consumption enjoyed resilient growth. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aircraft propeller exports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 612%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The Philippines (X kg) was the main destination for aircraft propeller exports from Vietnam, accounting for a 60% share of total exports. Moreover, aircraft propeller exports to the Philippines exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Indonesia (X kg), fourfold. Hong Kong SAR (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the Philippines stood at -22.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (+2.7% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (+10.0% per year).

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) remains the key foreign market for propellers and rotors for civil non-powered aircraft, helicopters and aeroplanes exports from Vietnam, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Philippines ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with an 18% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Hong Kong SAR totaled +56.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Philippines (+1.6% per year) and the Netherlands (-28.0% per year).

In 2022, the average aircraft propeller export price amounted to $X per kg, surging by 8.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 107% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of propellers and rotors for civil non-powered aircraft, helicopters and aeroplanes, when their volume increased by 98% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 582%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aircraft propeller imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports posted a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 525% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, the UK (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of aircraft propeller to Vietnam, with a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, aircraft propeller imports from the UK exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (X kg), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Russia (X kg), with a 7.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from the UK totaled +24.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (-1.5% per year) and Russia (-20.8% per year).

In value terms, the UK ($X) constituted the largest supplier of propellers and rotors for civil non-powered aircraft, helicopters and aeroplanes to Vietnam, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 9.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from the UK totaled +49.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+4.8% per year) and the Netherlands (-9.2% per year).

In 2022, the average aircraft propeller import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 7.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
