In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of quilted textile products in the piece (excluding embroidery), when their volume increased by 6.8% to X tons. Overall, imports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 76% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, quilted textile products imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 102%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of quilted textile products to Vietnam, with a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, quilted textile products imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tons), fivefold. Japan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +23.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (-1.4% per year) and Japan (+9.3% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of quilted textile products in the piece (excluding embroidery) to Vietnam, comprising 61% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +21.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (-2.5% per year) and Japan (+8.7% per year).

The average quilted textile products import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 3.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 15% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
