In value terms, recovered fibre pulp imports declined rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 2,501%. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The United States (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and Canada (X tons) were the main suppliers of recovered fibre pulp imports to Vietnam, together comprising 71% of total imports. Japan, Italy, Indonesia, Taiwan (Chinese), Germany and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 22%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +65.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Philippines ($X) constituted the largest supplier of recovered fibre pulp to Vietnam, comprising 34% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with an 8.8% share.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the price for the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+24.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
