After three years of decline, overseas shipments of rubber hose reinforced with textiles increased by 78% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports showed a strong expansion. The exports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, textile rubber hose exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports enjoyed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 63%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Thailand (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main destinations of textile rubber hose exports from Vietnam, together accounting for 85% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +32.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Thailand ($X), Indonesia ($X) and China ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for textile rubber hose exported from Vietnam worldwide, together accounting for 81% of total exports.

Indonesia, with a CAGR of +33.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average textile rubber hose export price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -22.5% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 9.1%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+11.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of rubber hose reinforced with textiles decreased by -6.4% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after seven years of growth. In general, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 59% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, textile rubber hose imports stood at $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 48%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Japan (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of textile rubber hose imports to Vietnam, together comprising 72% of total imports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Malaysia, India, Italy, Indonesia and the United States, which together accounted for a further 22%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +45.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Japan ($X), South Korea ($X) and China ($X) constituted the largest textile rubber hose suppliers to Vietnam, with a combined 71% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Malaysia, India, Italy, Indonesia and the United States, which together accounted for a further 22%.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 8.5%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Thailand ($X per ton) and Indonesia ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) and Italy ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
