Television Receiver Market Size in Vietnam

In 2022, the Vietnamese television receiver market decreased by -65.9% to $X, falling for the fourth year in a row after three years of growth. Overall, consumption recorded a drastic downturn. Television receiver consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, television receiver production rose to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 102% against the previous year. Television receiver production peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Vietnam

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of television receivers decreased by -17.7% to X units in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 130% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

In value terms, television receiver exports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 116% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Exports by Country

The United States (X units), India (X units) and South Korea (X units) were the main destinations of television receiver exports from Vietnam, with a combined 41% share of total exports. Poland, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Hong Kong SAR, Italy, China, the Philippines, France, Thailand and Australia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Australia (with a CAGR of +506.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), South Korea ($X) and Australia ($X) constituted the largest markets for television receiver exported from Vietnam worldwide, together accounting for 52% of total exports.

Australia, with a CAGR of +517.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average television receiver export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 4% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, television receiver export price decreased by -5.4% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 124% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Vietnam

In 2022, the amount of television receivers imported into Vietnam reduced to X units, shrinking by -7.6% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 35%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, television receiver imports dropped to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 70% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Malaysia (X units) and Indonesia (X units) were the main suppliers of television receiver imports to Vietnam, together accounting for 90% of total imports. Thailand and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 8.7%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +16.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, the largest television receiver suppliers to Vietnam were Malaysia ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Thailand ($X), together accounting for 86% of total imports.
