X-Ray Tube Market Size in Vietnam

The Vietnamese x-ray tube market contracted to $X in 2021, with a decrease of -6.6% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. X-ray tube consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, the amount of x-ray tubes exported from Vietnam expanded notably to X units, picking up by 5% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports recorded prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 257% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, x-ray tube exports declined to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 287% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.

Exports by Country

Singapore (X units) was the main destination for x-ray tube exports from Vietnam, with a 48% share of total exports. Moreover, x-ray tube exports to Singapore exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, India (X units), fivefold. The United States (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Singapore stood at +20.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (+23.1% per year) and the United States (+30.5% per year).

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the key foreign market for x-ray tubes exports from Vietnam, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with an 8.8% share of total exports. It was followed by the United States, with an 8.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Singapore amounted to +29.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (+29.2% per year) and the United States (+55.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average x-ray tube export price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -16.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 26% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+1,557.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Vietnam

X-ray tube imports into Vietnam reduced modestly to X units in 2021, remaining constant against 2020 figures. Overall, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 61% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, x-ray tube imports reduced to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 78%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell in the following year.

Imports by Country

The United States (X units), Singapore (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main suppliers of x-ray tube imports to Vietnam, with a combined 74% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +74.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Singapore ($X), the United States ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest x-ray tube suppliers to Vietnam, with a combined 77% share of total imports.

Singapore, with a CAGR of +88.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average x-ray tube import price amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -5.8% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 16% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then declined in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while the price for India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+7.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
