In Guinea, adhesive dressings exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Benin (-16.0% per year) and Senegal (+7.9% per year).

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 323%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, adhesive dressings imports rose modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 100%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. In value terms, the largest adhesive dressings importing markets in Western Africa were Nigeria ($X), Ghana ($X) and Senegal ($X), together comprising 60% of total imports. These countries were followed by Cote d'Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso and Benin, which together accounted for a further 28%.

Burkina Faso, with a CAGR of +28.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 27% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the import price increased by 38%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
