Amplifier Market Size in Western Africa

In 2022, the West African amplifier market increased by 3.8% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after four years of decline. Overall, consumption enjoyed prominent growth. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Amplifier Production in Western Africa

In value terms, amplifier production declined modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the production volume increased by 170% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the maximum level at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Amplifier Exports

Exports in Western Africa

In 2022, approx. X units of amplifiers were exported in Western Africa; growing by 1.7% compared with 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 7,433%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, amplifier exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 1,868% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Togo (X units) was the main exporter of amplifiers, achieving 36% of total exports. Mali (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 17% share, followed by Nigeria (12%), Niger (11%), Senegal (8.3%), Cote d'Ivoire (7.4%) and Ghana (4.7%).

Togo was also the fastest-growing in terms of the amplifiers exports, with a CAGR of +52.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Nigeria (+7.2%), Niger (+6.3%) and Mali (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Ghana experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Cote d'Ivoire (-6.0%) and Senegal (-27.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Togo (+36 p.p.), Mali (+13 p.p.), Nigeria (+9.8 p.p.), Niger (+8.6 p.p.), Ghana (+2.7 p.p.) and Cote d'Ivoire (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Senegal (-72.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the largest amplifier supplying countries in Western Africa were Togo ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Ghana ($X), together comprising 73% of total exports.

Togo, with a CAGR of +55.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 67% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 458%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per unit), while Mali ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+10.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Amplifier Imports

Imports in Western Africa

For the fifth year in a row, Western Africa recorded growth in supplies from abroad of amplifiers, which increased by 16% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 85%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, amplifier imports reduced slightly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +96.2% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 77% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell slightly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Ghana (X units) was the largest importer of amplifiers, making up 58% of total imports. Cote d'Ivoire (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 14% share, followed by Togo (11%) and Nigeria (9.1%). Guinea (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

Imports into Ghana increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Guinea (+31.7%), Togo (+30.1%), Cote d'Ivoire (+18.5%) and Nigeria (+12.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guinea emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +31.7% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Togo, Cote d'Ivoire, Guinea and Nigeria increased by +9.4, +8.9, +3.7 and +3.1 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Ghana ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported amplifiers in Western Africa, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Nigeria ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Cote d'Ivoire, with an 18% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Ghana totaled +2.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Nigeria (-1.5% per year) and Cote d'Ivoire (+16.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -15% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 68% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Guinea ($X per unit), while Togo ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (-1.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
