In value terms, iron angle exports totaled $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -17.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 47%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Senegal (X tons) and Ghana (X tons) represented roughly 66% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Benin (X tons), Nigeria (X tons) and Togo (X tons), together making up a 31% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Nigeria (with a CAGR of +28.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Senegal ($X), Ghana ($X) and Benin ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 79% share of total exports. Nigeria and Togo lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.

Among the main exporting countries, Nigeria, with a CAGR of +31.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 14% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild descent. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Senegal ($X per ton) and Benin ($X per ton), while Togo ($X per ton) and Ghana ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
