The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 198,047% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, apricot exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 346,757% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Cote d'Ivoire (X kg) represented the main exporter of apricots, generating 82% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Nigeria (X kg), committing a 15% share of total exports. Senegal (X kg) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to apricot exports from Cote d'Ivoire stood at -25.7%. At the same time, Senegal (+6.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. In Cote d'Ivoire, apricot exports plunged by an average annual rate of -13.6% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Senegal (+26.8% per year) and Nigeria (-13.1% per year).

The purchases of the four major importers of apricots, namely Mauritania, Cote d'Ivoire, Cabo Verde and Senegal, represented more than two-thirds of total import. In value terms, the largest apricot importing markets in Western Africa were Cote d'Ivoire ($X), Cabo Verde ($X) and Mauritania ($X), with a combined 69% share of total imports. Senegal, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Mali lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.

Burkina Faso, with a CAGR of +66.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -4.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while Senegal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
