Exports in Western Africa
In 2022, overseas shipments of articles and equipment for table-tennis decreased by -35.8% to X kg for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, exports saw a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 1,053% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, table-tennis equipment exports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 344%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Nigeria (X kg) was the key exporter of articles and equipment for table-tennis, comprising 48% of total exports. Senegal (X kg) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 31% share, followed by Ghana (10%) and Togo (10%).
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Ghana (with a CAGR of +2.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, the largest table-tennis equipment supplying countries in Western Africa were Senegal ($X), Ghana ($X) and Nigeria ($X), with a combined 84% share of total exports.
Ghana, with a CAGR of +24.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 468% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+21.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Western Africa
Table-tennis equipment imports soared to X tons in 2022, rising by 119% on 2021. Overall, imports posted a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 211% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, table-tennis equipment imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 164%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Nigeria prevails in imports structure, recording X tons, which was near 90% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Ghana (X tons), creating a 6.7% share of total imports. Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Nigeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the articles and equipment for table-tennis imports, with a CAGR of +7.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Cote d'Ivoire (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Ghana experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Nigeria (+11 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Ghana (-4.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported articles and equipment for table-tennis in Western Africa, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Ghana ($X), with a 19% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Nigeria was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Ghana (+8.5% per year) and Cote d'Ivoire (+2.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, declining by -38.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 58%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+7.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
