Nigeria represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which reached 68% of total exports. Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 19% share, followed by Ghana (6.9%). Sierra Leone (X kg) and Togo (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Nigeria increased at an average annual rate of +27.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Ghana (+53.8%) and Cote d'Ivoire (+16.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ghana emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +53.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Sierra Leone (-14.6%) and Togo (-16.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Nigeria (+64 p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (+17 p.p.), Ghana (+6.8 p.p.) and Sierra Leone (+3.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Togo saw its share reduced by -4.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X) remains the largest non-malleable cast iron articles supplier in Western Africa, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a 7.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Sierra Leone, with a 4.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Nigeria totaled +50.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Cote d'Ivoire (+19.5% per year) and Sierra Leone (+1.7% per year).

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -5.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the export price increased by 139%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while Ghana ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sierra Leone (+19.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of articles of non-malleable cast iron in Western Africa contracted modestly to X tons, reducing by -2.9% against 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
