In 2022, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -3.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 34%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, imports of bauxite in Western Africa contracted remarkably to X tons, with a decrease of -31.6% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 788%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 6.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 137%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
