Moreover, Liberia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +30.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Burkina Faso (-1.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Liberia (+9.2 p.p.), Senegal (+2.4 p.p.) and Ghana (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Cote d'Ivoire saw its share reduced by -2.8%, -3.7% and -3.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest bearing housing without ball bearing importing markets in Western Africa were Nigeria ($X), Ghana ($X) and Liberia ($X), with a combined 59% share of total imports.
Liberia, with a CAGR of +30.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
