The West African beet-pulp and bagasse market shrank modestly to $X in 2022, which is down by -2.3% against the previous year. In value terms, beet-pulp and bagasse exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 22,788% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

The biggest shipments were from Cote d'Ivoire (X kg), together recording 100% of total export.

Cote d'Ivoire was also the fastest-growing in terms of the beet-pulp and bagasse exports, with a CAGR of -22.2% from 2012 to 2022. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X) also remains the largest beet-pulp and bagasse supplier in Western Africa.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Cote d'Ivoire amounted to -6.2%.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -17.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 145%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

Beet-pulp and bagasse imports reached X tons in 2022, increasing by 8.3% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 149% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, beet-pulp and bagasse imports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 138%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.

Cabo Verde was also the fastest-growing in terms of the beet-pulp and bagasse imports, with a CAGR of +42.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Senegal (+3.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Sierra Leone (-16.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Cabo Verde ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported beet-pulp and bagasse in Western Africa, comprising 92% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Senegal ($X), with a 4.4% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Cabo Verde totaled +40.3%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Senegal (+0.6% per year) and Sierra Leone (-15.1% per year).

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sierra Leone ($X per ton), while Cabo Verde ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
