From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Ghana totaled +28.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Senegal (-20.1% per year) and Cote d'Ivoire (+21.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 33% against the previous year. Export price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per unit), while Togo ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Moreover, Niger emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +33.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Benin (-3.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Mauritania and Niger increased by +26 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mauritania ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported blankets and travelling rugs of synthetic fibres in Western Africa, comprising 37% of total imports.
