Among the main exporting countries, Nigeria, with a CAGR of +18.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -1.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 66%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, metal castor mounting imports amounted to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last decade.
