The average cauliflower and broccoli yield declined slightly to X tons per ha in 2022, dropping by -4.8% against the year before. Overall, the yield, however, continues to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the yield increased by 128%. As a result, the yield attained the peak level of X tons per ha. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the cauliflower and broccoli yield failed to regain momentum. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of cauliflower and broccoli, when their volume decreased by -30% to X tons. Overall, exports, however, saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 980%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cauliflower and broccoli exports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 799%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Burkina Faso prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. 93% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Nigeria (X tons), achieving a 6.6% share of total exports.

In value terms, Mauritania ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported cauliflower and broccoli in Western Africa, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Cabo Verde ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Cote d'Ivoire, with a 12% share.

In Mauritania, cauliflower and broccoli imports increased at an average annual rate of +51.1% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Cabo Verde (+6.9% per year) and Cote d'Ivoire (+14.8% per year).
