In 2021, Ghana (X tons) was the major exporter of ceramic statuettes and other ornamental articles, comprising 48% of total exports. Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an 11% share, followed by Senegal (10%), Mali (9.1%), Nigeria (7.3%) and Togo (5.7%). By contrast, Senegal (-13.7%) and Togo (-19.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Mali and Nigeria increased by +18, +11, +9 and +5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest ceramic statuette supplying countries in Western Africa were Mali ($X), Cote d'Ivoire ($X) and Ghana ($X), together comprising 52% of total exports.

In value terms, ceramic statuette imports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. In 2021, Mali (X tons), Senegal (X tons), Sierra Leone (X tons) and Niger (X tons) represented the key importer of ceramic statuettes and other ornamental articles in Western Africa, achieving 60% of total import. Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Gambia (X tons), Togo (X tons) and Mauritania (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 25% share of total imports.
