In value terms, Nigeria ($X) remains the largest oxides and hydroxides supplier in Western Africa, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a 28% share of total exports.

In 2021, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -33.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 22%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while Nigeria stood at $X per ton.

Imports in Western Africa
Oxides and hydroxides imports surged to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 34% against the year before. Overall, imports saw a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, oxides and hydroxides imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a prominent increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Nigeria prevails in imports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 67% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Ghana (X tons), Guinea (X tons) and Senegal (X tons), together achieving a 25% share of total imports. Burkina Faso (X tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Nigeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the chromium, manganese, lead and copper oxides and hydroxides imports, with a CAGR of +35.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Burkina Faso (+19.6%), Ghana (+17.7%), Guinea (+13.9%), Senegal (+8.1%) and Cote d'Ivoire (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth.
