In value terms, the largest construction sands importing markets in Western Africa were Nigeria ($X), Cabo Verde ($X) and Mauritania ($X), together accounting for 76% of total imports. Senegal, Ghana and Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 9%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Senegal, with a CAGR of -1.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 24% against the previous year. Import price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
