Imports in Western Africa

Cotton-seed oil imports soared to X tons in 2021, increasing by 139% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 550% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, cotton-seed oil imports reached $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 260%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -53.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price faced a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 65%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while Mali ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
