Togo dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 97% of total exports in 2022. Cote d'Ivoire (X kg) held a relatively small share of total exports.
Togo was also the fastest-growing in terms of the marble and travertine exports, with a CAGR of -4.3% from 2012 to 2022. Cote d'Ivoire (-12.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Togo (+3.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Cote d'Ivoire saw its share reduced by -3.4% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Togo ($X) remains the largest marble and travertine crude supplier in Western Africa, comprising 99% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a 0.9% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Togo totaled +4.6%.

In 2022, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, growing by 43% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 276% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, marble and travertine crude imports declined remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 198%. Over the period under review, crude imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) represented the major importer of marble and travertine, creating 42% of total imports. Nigeria (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 20% share, followed by Mauritania (15%), Ghana (7.7%), Senegal (6.5%) and Togo (5.4%).
Cote d'Ivoire was also the fastest-growing in terms of the marble and travertine imports, with a CAGR of +10.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Ghana (+8.5%) and Mauritania (+3.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Togo (-2.4%), Nigeria (-7.9%) and Senegal (-10.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +9.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, declining by -24.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a mild slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the import price increased by 33%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell markedly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while Mauritania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
