Exports in Western Africa

In 2022, the amount of curtains and interior blinds exported in Western Africa soared to X square meters, growing by 69% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports saw resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 71% against the previous year. Togo was also the fastest-growing in terms of the curtains and interior blinds exports, with a CAGR of +20.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Cabo Verde (+19.2%), Gambia (+12.4%), Ghana (+10.6%) and Mali (+9.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Nigeria (-3.7%) and Senegal (-11.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Togo, Cabo Verde, Gambia and Mali increased by +47, +3.2, +2 and +1.8 percentage points, respectively. In terms of the main exporting countries, Cabo Verde, with a CAGR of +34.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per square meter in 2022, waning by -43% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per square meter in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cabo Verde ($X per square meter), while Togo ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 42%. The volume of import peaked at X square meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per square meter in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. Import price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, curtains import price increased by +53.5% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 53% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per square meter in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
