In 2022, the West African food mixer market increased by 0.4% to $X, rising for the sixth consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, consumption, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The level of consumption peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports in Western Africa

In 2022, food mixer exports in Western Africa totaled X units, rising by 9.9% against the year before. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 333% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, food mixer exports reduced slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 455%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Sierra Leone represented the main exporter of domestic food grinders and mixers and fruit or vegetable juice extractors in Western Africa, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was approx. 50% of total exports in 2022. Togo (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Nigeria (X units). All these countries together held approx. 46% share of total exports.

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by -13.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 64% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sierra Leone ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Overall, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 124% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Ghana represented the largest importer of domestic food grinders and mixers and fruit or vegetable juice extractors in Western Africa, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was approx. 69% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Nigeria (X units) and Cote d'Ivoire (X units), together creating an 18% share of total imports. Mauritania (X units) and Guinea (X units) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to food mixer imports into Ghana stood at +16.4%. At the same time, Guinea (+35.9%), Mauritania (+34.4%) and Cote d'Ivoire (+26.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guinea emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +35.9% from 2012-2022. Nigeria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, the largest food mixer importing markets in Western Africa were Ghana ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a combined 88% share of total imports. Mauritania and Guinea lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 4.8%.

Among the main importing countries, Guinea, with a CAGR of +27.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 3.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 14%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
