In value terms, epoxide resin exports reduced dramatically to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a perceptible expansion. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -21.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 101% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Nigeria (X tons) was the main importer of epoxide resins, comprising 51% of total imports. Mauritania (X tons) held a 25% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Cote d'Ivoire (7.6%) and Ghana (7.3%). Senegal (X tons) and Guinea (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to epoxide resin imports into Nigeria stood at +5.0%. At the same time, Guinea (+20.1%), Ghana (+14.6%), Cote d'Ivoire (+10.9%), Mauritania (+10.0%) and Senegal (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guinea emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +20.1% from 2012-2021. In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported epoxide resins in Western Africa, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Cote d'Ivoire, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Nigeria totaled +2.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Ghana (+13.0% per year) and Cote d'Ivoire (+7.2% per year).
