Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 88%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, fishing rod imports amounted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 49%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The countries with the highest levels of fishing rod imports in 2021 were Ghana (X tons), Mali (X tons) and Guinea (X tons), together amounting to 52% of total import. In value terms, the largest fishing rod importing markets in Western Africa were Mali ($X), Cote d'Ivoire ($X) and Ghana ($X), together accounting for 56% of total imports. These countries were followed by Guinea, Senegal, Gambia and Nigeria, which together accounted for a further 31%.
Among the main importing countries, Gambia, with a CAGR of +31.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate moderate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 93%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mali ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
