Exports by Country
Senegal (X tons) and Togo (X tons) prevails in corn structure, together constituting 70% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Ghana (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons), together creating a 22% share of total exports. Burkina Faso (X tons) and Niger (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Niger (with a CAGR of +33.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Senegal ($X) remains the largest frozen vegetables other than potato and corn supplier in Western Africa, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Togo ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Ghana, with an 8.2% share.
In Senegal, exports of frozen vegetables other than potato and corn increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Togo (+12.1% per year) and Ghana (+15.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -7.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a modest expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the export price increased by 42%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($X per ton), while Niger ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

For the fourth year in a row, Western Africa recorded growth in purchases abroad of frozen vegetables other than potato and corn, which increased by 5.8% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 76% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of frozen vegetables other than potato and corn reached $X in 2022. In general, imports posted prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 77% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Nigeria (X tons), distantly followed by Cabo Verde (X tons), Burkina Faso (X tons), Liberia (X tons), Mauritania (X tons), Niger (X tons), Ghana (X tons), Senegal (X tons) and Mali (X tons) were the key importers of frozen vegetables other than potato and corn, together making up 87% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to frozen vegetables other than potato and corn imports into Nigeria stood at +16.0%. At the same time, Burkina Faso (+68.4%), Niger (+35.6%), Mali (+21.1%), Mauritania (+18.2%), Ghana (+15.4%), Senegal (+12.1%), Cabo Verde (+12.0%) and Liberia (+9.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Burkina Faso emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +68.4% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Mali and Mauritania increased by +8.4, +6.1, +3.3, +2.7 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Nigeria ($X), Cabo Verde ($X) and Mauritania ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 41% share of total imports. Mali, Ghana, Liberia, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Niger lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 44%.
Burkina Faso, with a CAGR of +57.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, dropping by -2.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a perceptible setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the import price increased by 14% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mali ($X per ton), while Niger ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
