The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of graphic paper with mechanical fibre content under 10% and of weight X-150 g/m2 in sheets soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Moreover, Cote d'Ivoire emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +14.1% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana increased by +4.5 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
