Exports by Country
In 2022, Ghana (X units) represented the largest exporter of hair brushes and shaving and toilet brushes for personal use, comprising 62% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Nigeria (X units), constituting a 28% share of total exports. Togo (X units) and Cote d'Ivoire (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Ghana experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of hair brushes and shaving and toilet brushes for personal use. At the same time, Nigeria (+16.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Nigeria emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +16.9% from 2012-2022. Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Togo ($X per unit) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) and Ghana ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Togo (+8.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Western Africa
In 2022, purchases abroad of hair brushes and shaving and toilet brushes for personal use decreased by less than 0.1% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -1.0% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 70%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units.
