While the share of Ghana (+59 p.p.) and Guinea (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Senegal (-5.7 p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (-7.2 p.p.) and Nigeria (-29.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Ghana ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported hair curlers and curling tongs in Western Africa, comprising 72% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Nigeria, with an 8.8% share.

In Ghana, hair curler imports expanded at an average annual rate of +39.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Cote d'Ivoire (+12.3% per year) and Nigeria (+1.2% per year).
