From 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (+12.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Western Africa
Hand saw imports was estimated at X tons in 2022, increasing by 6.9% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 157%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, hand saw imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a perceptible increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 88%. The purchases of the three major importers of hand saws, namely Ghana, Nigeria and Togo, represented more than half of total import. Senegal (X tons) held a 10% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Cote d'Ivoire (9.7%) and Guinea (7.5%). Liberia (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Togo (with a CAGR of +39.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Ghana ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported hand saws in Western Africa, comprising 37% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Senegal, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Ghana stood at +14.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Cote d'Ivoire (+21.6% per year) and Senegal (+16.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -17.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the import price increased by 96%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell significantly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
