The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.

Exports in Western Africa
In 2020, hay-making machinery exports in Western Africa dropped rapidly to X units, shrinking by -50% on the year before. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, hay-making machinery exports dropped markedly to $X in 2020. In general, exports, however, saw resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 1,503% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

Nigeria (X units) represented roughly 100% of total exports in 2020.
Nigeria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of hay-making machinery. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
From 2013 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value in Nigeria amounted to +5.6%.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per unit in 2020, waning by -30.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by 36% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Nigeria.

Imports in Western Africa
In 2021, approx. X units of hay-making machinery were imported in Western Africa; declining by -24.3% on 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 100% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2020, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
In value terms, hay-making machinery imports totaled $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 174%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Nigeria represented the major importer of hay-making machinery in Western Africa, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was approx. 43% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Ghana (X units), Mauritania (X units), Benin (X units), Mali (X units) and Senegal (X units), together achieving a 50% share of total imports. Sierra Leone (X units) took a little share of total imports.
Nigeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the hay-making machinery imports, with a CAGR of +22.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Mauritania (+16.7%), Senegal (+9.1%) and Mali (+9.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Ghana, Benin and Sierra Leone experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Nigeria, Senegal, Mali and Mauritania increased by +26, +7.1, +7.1 and +6 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported hay-making machinery in Western Africa, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mauritania ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Ghana, with a 9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Nigeria totaled +26.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Mauritania (+31.9% per year) and Ghana (+9.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per unit, surging by 35% against the previous year. Import price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, hay-making machinery import price increased by +109.4% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 64% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per unit), while Benin ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+9.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
