Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hypochlorites, chlorites and hypobromites exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Senegal dominates exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 85% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Nigeria (X tons), making up a 9% share of total exports. The following exporters - Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) and Mali (X tons) - together made up 5.1% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to hypochlorites, chlorites and hypobromites exports from Senegal stood at -6.2%. In 2022, purchases abroad of hypochlorites, commercial calcium hypochlorite, chlorites and hypobromites decreased by -24.8% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hypochlorites, chlorites and hypobromites imports dropped significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 46%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Cabo Verde (X tons), Ghana (X tons), Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Nigeria (X tons), Gambia (X tons), Niger (X tons), Mauritania (X tons), Guinea-Bissau (X tons), Senegal (X tons), Benin (X tons), Burkina Faso (X tons) and Togo (X tons) represented roughly 95% of total imports in 2022.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Guinea-Bissau (with a CAGR of +20.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Ghana ($X), Cote d'Ivoire ($X) and Nigeria ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 46% of total imports. Niger, Cabo Verde, Mauritania, Gambia, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Benin and Togo lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 48%.

Guinea-Bissau, with a CAGR of +22.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, growing by 6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the import price increased by 22%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
