The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 51%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, inductor exports shrank sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports faced a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 102% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
The biggest shipments were from Burkina Faso (X units), Mauritania (X units) and Niger (X units), together recording 59% of total export. Mali (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Ghana (X units), Senegal (X units), Cabo Verde (X units) and Togo (X units). All these countries together took near 34% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Niger (with a CAGR of +32.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest inductor supplying countries in Western Africa were Mali ($X), Togo ($X) and Cabo Verde ($X), with a combined 47% share of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Cabo Verde, with a CAGR of +20.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per unit, falling by -9.9% against the previous year. Export price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, inductor export price increased by +5.2% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by 117% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Togo ($X per unit), while Mauritania (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Togo (+31.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Western Africa
In 2022, purchases abroad of inductors decreased by -55.1% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after seven years of growth. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 238%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, inductor imports contracted remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 102% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Nigeria represented the largest importer of inductors in Western Africa, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was near 65% of total imports in 2022. Ghana (X units) took a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Guinea (5.8%) and Senegal (4.5%). The following importers - Cote d'Ivoire (X units) and Niger (X units) - together made up 5.2% of total imports.
Imports into Nigeria decreased at an average annual rate of -8.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Guinea (+40.6%), Senegal (+14.0%), Ghana (+6.1%) and Niger (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guinea emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +40.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Cote d'Ivoire (-4.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Ghana, Guinea and Senegal increased by +11, +5.7 and +3.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Nigeria ($X), Ghana ($X) and Guinea ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 65% of total imports.
Guinea, with a CAGR of +24.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 65% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 102% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
