At the same time, Ghana (+13.8%) and Cote d'Ivoire (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Nigeria (-4.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Senegal ($X) emerged as the largest inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals supplier in Western Africa, comprising 47% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Ghana ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Nigeria, with a 15% share.

In Senegal, inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals exports increased at an average annual rate of +15.6% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ghana (+9.5% per year) and Nigeria (+7.0% per year).

Imports in Western Africa

After two years of growth, purchases abroad of inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals decreased by -61.3% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a slight increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 114% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with an 8.7% share of total imports. It was followed by Senegal, with a 3% share.
