It was distantly followed by Ghana (X units), constituting a 25% share of total exports.

Senegal was also the fastest-growing in terms of the machinery for making up paper pulp, paper or paperboard exports, with a CAGR of +13.0% from 2012 to 2021. Ghana experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports in Western Africa

In 2021, the amount of machinery for making up paper pulp, paper or paperboard imported in Western Africa surged to X units, jumping by 34% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 113%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, paper making machinery imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a pronounced slump. In terms of the main importing countries, Guinea, with a CAGR of +61.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -9.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price faced a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the import price increased by 45% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($X per unit), while Guinea ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Benin (+12.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
