While the share of Niger (+39 p.p.), Mauritania (+10 p.p.), Senegal (+7.9 p.p.), Ghana (+4.8 p.p.), Sierra Leone (+3.9 p.p.) and Benin (+3.9 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Niger ($X), Sierra Leone ($X) and Senegal ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 85% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Sierra Leone, with a CAGR of +50.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -15.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 126%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
