The shipments of the one major exporters of mica, namely Nigeria, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

Nigeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the mica exports, with a CAGR of +42.3% from 2012 to 2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X) also remains the largest mica supplier in Western Africa.

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 35% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible expansion. After three years of decline, overseas purchases of mica increased by 39% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 79% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, mica imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 158% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. Imports by Country

Niger (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons) dominates imports structure, together mixing up 94% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Gambia (X tons), mixing up a 4.7% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Niger (with a CAGR of +10.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported mica in Western Africa, comprising 77% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Niger ($X), with a 20% share of total imports.

In Nigeria, mica imports expanded at an average annual rate of +9.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Niger (+2.7% per year) and Gambia (+3.9% per year).
