Mixed Juices Market Size in Western Africa
The West African mixed juices market contracted slightly to $X in 2022, leveling off at the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption showed a noticeable decrease. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Mixed Juices Production in Western Africa
In value terms, mixed juices production fell slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production recorded a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the production volume increased by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Western Africa
Mixed juices exports fell markedly to X tons in 2022, which is down by -26.6% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 84%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, mixed juices exports fell markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 192%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Ghana (X tons) was the largest exporter of mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices, creating 50% of total exports. Senegal (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 30% share, followed by Nigeria (7.8%) and Togo (6.6%). Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Togo (with a CAGR of +42.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Senegal ($X) remains the largest mixed juices supplier in Western Africa, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Nigeria, with a 9.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Senegal totaled +27.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Ghana (+2.6% per year) and Nigeria (+9.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -14.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 59%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($X per ton), while Ghana ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (+2.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Mixed Juices Imports
Imports in Western Africa
In 2022, supplies from abroad of mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices decreased by -17.5% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 33%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, mixed juices imports dropped markedly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +47.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 49%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Ghana (X tons) was the main importer of mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices, committing 45% of total imports. Senegal (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 12% share, followed by Mali (5.9%) and Guinea-Bissau (4.9%). Guinea (X tons), Burkina Faso (X tons), Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Mauritania (X tons), Gambia (X tons), Nigeria (X tons), Cabo Verde (X tons) and Niger (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Ghana decreased at an average annual rate of -2.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Guinea-Bissau (+30.2%), Mali (+13.2%), Senegal (+10.1%), Burkina Faso (+6.4%), Mauritania (+6.3%), Cote d'Ivoire (+6.1%), Cabo Verde (+5.7%) and Niger (+5.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guinea-Bissau emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +30.2% from 2012-2022. Guinea experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Gambia (-3.3%) and Nigeria (-8.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire and Mauritania increased by +7.3, +4.5, +4.2, +2, +1.7 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Ghana ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices in Western Africa, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Senegal ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Nigeria, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Ghana amounted to +4.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Senegal (+11.9% per year) and Nigeria (-8.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 1.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 33% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while Burkina Faso ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
