In value terms, monitors and projectors exports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a dramatic contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Ghana (X units) represented the main exporter of monitors and projectors, comprising 53% of total exports. Nigeria (X units) took a 22% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Senegal (10%), Cote d'Ivoire (7.8%) and Sierra Leone (4.9%). Cabo Verde (X units) took a minor share of total exports.
Ghana experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of monitors and projectors. Cote d'Ivoire (-8.3%), Cabo Verde (-10.4%), Senegal (-15.7%), Sierra Leone (-22.6%) and Nigeria (-27.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Ghana (+46 p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (+5.4 p.p.), Senegal (+3 p.p.) and Cabo Verde (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Sierra Leone and Nigeria saw its share reduced by -3.1% and -50.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Senegal ($X), Ghana ($X) and Nigeria ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 88% of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Ghana, with a CAGR of +0.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, declining by -12.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 66%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($X per unit), while Sierra Leone ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (+8.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Western Africa
In 2022, the amount of monitors and projectors imported in Western Africa soared to X units, with an increase of 16% compared with 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, monitors and projectors imports stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Cote d'Ivoire was the main importer of monitors and projectors in Western Africa, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was near 39% of total imports in 2022. Ghana (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 21% share, followed by Nigeria (12%), Mali (11%) and Senegal (6.6%). The following importers - Burkina Faso (X units) and Niger (X units) - together made up 4.4% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Mali (with a CAGR of +47.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Ghana ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 79% share of total imports. Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mali and Niger lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.
Mali, with a CAGR of +25.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -6.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 16%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per unit), while Mali ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Burkina Faso (-2.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
