Non-electric bakery oven exports soared to X units in 2022, with an increase of 15% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports recorded notable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 88%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-electric bakery oven exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 129%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Ghana was the key exporting country with an export of about X units, which reached 59% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Senegal (X units), committing a 38% share of total exports. Cote d'Ivoire (X units) took a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Ghana (with a CAGR of +23.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In value terms, Senegal ($X) remains the largest non-electric bakery oven supplier in Western Africa, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a 10% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Senegal totaled +11.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Cote d'Ivoire (+1.7% per year) and Ghana (+13.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 1.8% against the previous year. Export price indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, non-electric bakery oven export price decreased by -29.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per unit), while Ghana ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Western Africa

In 2022, the amount of non-electric bakery ovens imported in Western Africa skyrocketed to X units, picking up by 31% on the previous year. In general, imports showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 249% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-electric bakery oven imports dropped rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports posted a perceptible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 241% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Ghana represented the major importer of non-electric bakery ovens in Western Africa, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was near 60% of total imports in 2022. Nigeria (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 12% share, followed by Cote d'Ivoire (5.8%) and Mali (5.6%). Cabo Verde (X units), Senegal (X units) and Guinea (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

Imports into Ghana increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Cabo Verde (+41.5%), Mali (+19.1%), Guinea (+12.7%) and Cote d'Ivoire (+9.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cabo Verde emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +41.5% from 2012-2022. Senegal experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Nigeria (-2.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Ghana (+12 p.p.), Cabo Verde (+3.9 p.p.), Mali (+3.9 p.p.) and Cote d'Ivoire (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Senegal (-1.9 p.p.) and Nigeria (-16 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-electric bakery ovens in Western Africa, comprising 34% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Ghana ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Mali, with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Nigeria totaled -1.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Ghana (+14.4% per year) and Mali (+25.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -44.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 160%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($X per unit), while Cabo Verde ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guinea (+10.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
