Imports in Western Africa
For the sixth year in a row, Western Africa recorded growth in purchases abroad of non-electric furnaces and ovens for the roasting or melting, which increased by 90% to X units in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 163%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, non-electric roasting furnace imports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 95% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
Nigeria dominates imports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 93% of total imports in 2022. The following importers - Cote d'Ivoire (X units) and Ghana (X units) - together made up 4.5% of total imports.
Nigeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the non-electric furnaces and ovens for the roasting or melting imports, with a CAGR of +33.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Cote d'Ivoire (+19.8%) and Ghana (+10.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Nigeria increased by +33 percentage points.
