Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 109%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then reduced in the following year.

Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) took a 14% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Nigeria (7.5%) and Senegal (5%). Togo (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into Ghana increased at an average annual rate of +28.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Togo (+28.8%), Senegal (+18.2%) and Cote d'Ivoire (+17.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Togo emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +28.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Nigeria (-16.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Ghana (+56 p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (+9.4 p.p.), Senegal (+3.5 p.p.) and Togo (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Nigeria saw its share reduced by -45.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Ghana ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-woven glass fibre webs, felts, mattresses and boards in Western Africa, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Nigeria, with a 5.1% share.

In Ghana, non-woven glass fibre articles imports increased at an average annual rate of +32.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Cote d'Ivoire (+17.8% per year) and Nigeria (-22.6% per year).
