Assembled Parquet Panels Market Size in Western Africa

Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 115% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, assembled parquet panels exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 1,047% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Cote d'Ivoire was the main exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for 63% of total exports. Benin (X tons) took a 23% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Ghana (13%).

Exports from Cote d'Ivoire decreased at an average annual rate of -9.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Benin (+9.5%) and Ghana (+5.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Benin emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +9.5% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Benin and Ghana increased by +23 and +8.8 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X) remains the largest assembled parquet panels supplier in Western Africa, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a 17% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Cote d'Ivoire amounted to -8.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Ghana (+12.4% per year) and Benin (+3.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 78% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a mild increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 1,974% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per ton), while Benin ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+6.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Western Africa

In 2021, the amount of assembled parquet panels imported in Western Africa skyrocketed to X tons, rising by 29% compared with the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +38.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, assembled parquet panels imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 50%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Nigeria (X tons), Ghana (X tons) and Senegal (X tons) was the key importer of assembled parquet panels in Western Africa, comprising 61% of total import. Cabo Verde (X tons) took a 9.4% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Niger (8.2%) and Cote d'Ivoire (6.3%). Gambia (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Gambia (with a CAGR of +106.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest assembled parquet panels importing markets in Western Africa were Nigeria ($X), Ghana ($X) and Senegal ($X), together accounting for 59% of total imports. Cote d'Ivoire, Cabo Verde, Niger and Gambia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.

Among the main importing countries, Gambia, with a CAGR of +91.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 49%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while Gambia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
